Hey,
I've been having the same trouble that Emmanouel is suffering from. I'm
basically trying to run Maverick on a WeTab. Everything appears to run fine but
as soon as I touch the touchscreen, the courser jumps up to the left corner.
I've tried pretty much everything that's mentioned here
I thought I was affected by this bug but it was actually a different
root cause in my case.
The actual cause was my dual display setup.
When I switched to the nvidia driver from nouveau, I didn't realize that
I had even plugged in my "second" display. While the display was
actually powered off,
I had frequent short freezes on Xubuntu 10.10. The patch from the Glasen
PPA (note: only one 's') fixed my problems . There is a howto here:

I'd like to add that, for me, the "slow motion mode" of Launchpad while
viewing the list of subscribers is not a problem when deactivating
proprietary drivers. Using the nouveau driver instead of nvidia-current
(195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04), Firefox runs smoothly in Launchpad.

When using openchrome xorg driver with composite enabled on kwin,
kdeinit4 crashes after login. To fix the problem it's necessary to
disable composite feature on /usr/share/kubuntu-default-
settings/kde4-profile/default/share

I am running Xubuntu 10.10 (also tried with Ubutnu 10.10). I can't make
any external monitor working. Only when I switch to console
(Ctrl+Alt+F1), the external monitor nicely mirrors my laptop screen. But
when I return back (Alt+F7) the external moni
My system was affected by this bug with both 9.04 and 10.10 (32bit) -
random freezes, weird mouse/keyboard behaviour. I flashed my BIOS to
latest version, and not a lockup since. Perhaps my freezes were specific
to my hardware but just in case it helps anyone else:

the failure mentioned in comment #7 is a followup error (trying to run
xvfb without xserver args (-s ...)). the primary failure is still to get
metacity starting / working the chroot.

(me too) confirm Alt-Shift keyboard layout switch incompatible with Alt-
Shift-Tab Window switching in reverse in Ubuntu 10.10...

When booting into normal system or recovery mode, the monitor turns off.
The system seems too boot normally, but I can't verify this as I can't
see the screen contents. S
This (bad) behaviour is (bad) work-around to other bugs. Alt-Shift is
the default language/keyboard layout shortcut. Nearly everyone outside
of US/Anglo saxon world will expect this keyboard shortcut (including
Mark Shuttleworth).
Just installed 10.10 and surprised these numerous Alt-Shift bugs ha
