Ok. We've seen a similar backtrace in bug #651294. My first guess at
the solution hasn't borne fruit, but I can reproduce this locally, so

I'm having the same issue, I also get the signal 11.
It crashed when calibrating and when resuming from suspend.
Also, the use of the touchscreen is very slow.
I have two egalax screens, I tried both. The first was fine with this
config, the second isn't. I'm assuming their a little different.

I have fixed my issue by running jokey-kde and letting it find my video
card and installing the FGLRX driver and use that instead of the RADEON
driver.
I can now reboot to a fully graphical UI without having to do anything.

Another solution (for the R.A.T.5; untested on the 7) is to simply edit
the Xmodmap file to say "pointer = 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 0 0 0",
then reboot/restart X. This didn't require any editing of xorg.conf.

After over an ~2 hours of testing (1 hour of continous Nexuiz playing with

I can confirm this works on a Saitek Cyborg R.A.T.5 Mouse.
Although the xinput tool had no effect, putting this in the xorg.conf did had

Much slower on HP Mini 5101 (Intel 1.66GHz N280 Atom, 2Gb RAM).

Unfortunately not even the final version of 10.10 fixed this issue and it
remains crippling the desktop usage.
I would consider this a major bug because Ubuntu uses the desktop effects by
default.
Even the upgrade to the 260.xx driver from nVidia did not fix anything.

Same problem here. Dell Studio Notebook with a Synaptics touchpad. Moultitouch
works perfectly on windows, but in ubuntu (10.10) it jumps randomly when two

Jase workaround worked for me... anyway, this is a huge problem for
ubuntu users. It should work automagically, without need for searching
this patches. If recent drivers are not fixed soon, this workaround
driver should be proposed on jockey.

nvidia driver does not work in maverick on GeForce
Yesterday I installed Ubuntu-10.10-desktop-amd64 and since now I have no
experienced openings of unwanted applications or windows caused by a jumping
pointer, but I found that the difficulty on writing, for example this message,
is still present an maybe now I can describe better the strange beh

Doh! I think I know what went wrong. I seem to have forgotten to add the
posinst files to let the installation run depmod. But don't do that right now,
if you could just download the package again (I replaced the files) and install
that version over, it should do it and the path of the wacom mod

worthwhile to look further for another report, or to open a new one,
perhaps with the command:

Well those who couldn't get their Nvidia drivers working with Ubuntu
10.10 due to newer ver
If you're not sure if your card uses a legacy Nvidia driver or not, please see
this list:

It looks like this bug report is specifically for nvidia-96 and
nvidia-173 drivers. So if your card (or its PCI ID) isn't on the above
list underneath the 173.14.x

I downgraded to Lucid on my Dell E6510 laptop, because I need it rock
solid/stable

Thanks, Pander, corrected it.
Yesterday I tried until midnight to compile and test the 32-bit driver
on an external USB disk, no way, I can't do a proper install on a
Maverick 32-bit cd (gnome) on a usb disk as I did with the 64-bit. Even
the 32-bit usb image created by the standard ubuntu install
Too bad, affect my Geforce2 MX400 too.
As a temporary solution, I edit xorg.conf, and change:
From
Driver "nv"
To
Driver "vesa"
At least, we can run xWindows ^_^
