X server 1.9.0 crashes reproducibly when a lot of gnome-terminal windows are
opened on GeForce 8800 GTS/nvidia drive

Weird, I had removed the i915.powersave=0 and for a long time now (maybe a
month) I had almost no flickering (could count them on one hand).

I am still experiencing the same problem with xserver 1.9 and fglrx
2:8.780-0ubuntu1. I don't think the fix worked, or at least not for

I can confirm this bug with Maverick and Lucid on Thinkpad T60 / radeon X1300.
Trying modeset/pll parameters, but it seems like random problems related to

Robbie, I just downloaded and attempted an install of 10.10 final on a

That workaround didn't work for me, even after removing x11-xkb-utils I
still got the error.
What did work though was installing the maverick version of x11-common
from http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/all/x11-common/download
Upgrade is now in progress.

I am also affected by this. I have a Dell Inspiron 700m. xrandr does
