I tried testing with a Maverick daily build around July 20, but I
couldn't collect any useful information because the boot hangs 100% of
the time. Now that Alpha 3 is out, I'll try again over the weekend.

This of course has not solved the problem and will not help to improve Ubuntu,

On this laptop I have frequent issues with X hanging up. It hangs in two
(possibly not related) ways:
1) When in power management "put display to sleep..." is enabled, letting it go
to sleep will frequently make it lock up. Input
I just update my kubuntu netbook to Lucid Lynx 10.04 and now it works better
than windows! I tested also on ubuntu lucid lynx 10.04 and it works great.
