I have noticed that when I play AisleRiot Solitaire the Memory Utilization
panel applet shows the memory utilization approaching 10

I've had the same problem. My work around was to drop to tty from the
login prompt (clicking the login window corrupted and froze the system)
and then remove the current nvidia drivers:
sudo apt-get purge nvidia-glx-*
Install the latest:
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-185
and then run nvidia

I'm noticing this problem too. Mine is also the Intel 965GM Chipset on a
Dell XPS M1330. I can't watch any HD videos on Youtube, Vimeo, or Totem.

After my update yesterday the Elantech touchpad mouse is dead in Ubuntu.
Even my solution above does not help anymore. It happens in Linux
2.6.31-14-generic #48 as bad as in 2.6.31-15 generic.
Even on a terminal (while X11 is down) I cannot get any input from it. E.g.

I followedthe guide to create the file 10-linuxaiptek.fdi, in the directory

Using the command "xset b [volume] [pitch] [duration]", I've found that
adjusting the first value does not adjust the volume at all, only the
duration. The third argument also adjusts the duration.
