Desktop Effects - Logout does not work proper

check nvidia until later, but the problem can be summed up as the
"Logout" desktop effect blacking out the background rather than showing

Errors with my Intel card might have been different from this bug.
However, I got rid of them by removing restricted ATI driver packages.
So, in case some of you have restricted driver packages installed for
other video cards, I'd try removing them for a while, and reporting
back, if this fixed the

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with
the latest development release of Ubuntu
This is not an x server bug; therefore dmesg, lspci etc are irrelevant.
The bug is in the -dev package's .pc file.

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
