I also have Ubuntu 8.10 running on my laptop and the 'Three' 3G Huawei e169g
USB broadboand dongle just worked. It fact it worked quicker and easier than
in XP. (XP requires a reboot after installing software)

Can you download the Alternative CD via a faster connection? Then send

If 'line vty 0 4' does not have a password set on it telnet will not work.
It's a good security feature. And of course if a password is set you need to

then zooming in/out with CTRL + and CTRL - will fix/exacerbate the
problem. I think the web designer needs to sort his divs out to

the Hauppauge PVR 150 MCE I think, or an equivalent USB device would

Have a look in ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session. If there is
anything there then delete it, or move it away i
nstalling the updates, it is now asking me which partitions to
install grub on, with a choice of /dev/sda and /dev/mmcblk0 and I
don't know which (or both) to select. Are those the two partitions on
the stick or is one the internal flash in the joggler?

Note that the ping was not getting through to your PC, it was the
router that was responding to the ping.

Right click the partition (in gparted) and select Unmount. Don't
unmount a partition you are using, obviously.

Just as a corollary to this, it is not necessary to format the stick
before writing it with dd. The formatting info is included in the
image. So the output file is something like sdb which is the complete
stick rather than a partition.
