This happened to me after installing Adobe-Air and BBC iPlayer,
reinstalling gnome-app-install fixed it:
sudo apt-get --reinstall install gnome-app-install

Hi,
You can just add a second device screen and monitor section into your
xorg.conf and then in the server layout section you'll need to add
something like:
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Default Layout"
Screen "Screen 1" LeftOf "Screen2"
Screen "Screen 2"

sorry its taken me so long to get back to you. I really appreciate all
the messages, they have been a big help.
I got my little netbook, but I managed to find one in Curries instead,
slightly different specs, but the same as the one I mentioned. Acer
Aspire.
It has Linux Lite

Thanks for this. I hadn't even realised my Add/Remove was messed up as
I tend to install via the terminal or Synaptic Package Manager but
it's always good to have a fully working system.
