>From what I understand. Smooth scrolling either turns the page into a low
resolution image or reduces the rendering quality while you scroll. If you
do it on an android handset you will notice this too.
I presume it is done to reduce the juddering when scrolling on a low
specification machine.

I can confirm the problem in Firefox 13 (slight blue tint on text when
scrolling) and that disabling smooth scrolling rectifies it.
