Assuming you can't boot in Windows and fix the improper shutdown issue, perhaps the key is to mount it from Gutsy with the older read-only driver? However, that is only half a fix because, of course, you won't be able to write to it which makes it little more than a glorified CD. Personally if it

I used to be able to mount NTFS drives read-only regardless of whether they'd been shut down correctly... it was only if I manually tried to mount them read/write that I'd get the improperly shut down error. In Gutsy the read/write is default... I believe in Feisty it was not, and this (I think) i
