Actually I have that problem with the N95 too - it only works if you
leave it plugged in and then power down the machine. Then, magically,
the "USB cable is safe to remove"...
It doesn't seem to cause data corruption if you unmount it and then
wait for the message that it is safe to remove on the

When you get up to the big Nokias (like my N95) that have memory
identified as "mass storage", you just plug the thing in and it shows
up as a removable drive. Not that that helps you out... sorry
