ok a development...i clicked on "Unix" in the shared folder and that
stayed...even after i had closed it!!!

I just looked at my share and I know some people are going to say it's

It's restricted to a specific interface which is on another subnet and
not accessible through the rest of the network.

I don't know why it's deleting them as I did it all through the Samba
configuration file first (/etc/samba/smb.conf). Maybe you can give it
a shot.
