After reading Linux Format magazine's review of TV cards earlier this
year, I bought the TechnoTrend TT-1500, which is supposed to work with
Linux, but so far I have not been able to get it to pick up anything at
all, in Mythbuntu. Although I have now, I think, messed up the Mythbuntu
installat

Got one of those - works with Mythbuntu and Kaffeine without a hitch :)
