Just a question, is there any way I can find out if the wireless adaptor
is broken, or is the software has become corrupted in any way? Its not
even showing that there is a wireless on the netbook. I can connect via
the ethernet though, which works ok.
Thanks

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with eeepc. Nor what the Kernel differences
are.
Which is the default option (the one its on when the menu first comes
up). If is the 3rd option, then try booting the first (probably the
latest) kernel.

Hi, are all those kernels eeepc? They dont look like they look like the
full version on Ubuntu? I'll give it a try though.
Thank you.

Try booting with the 3rd and/or 5th option. It is likely that the 3rd
option was the last good kernel.

No, I'm OK now - this was from one month to one week ago, when I was in
the same position as you, with a new linux machine that wouldn't talk to
the network, and an old windows machine that would. Now, they both do,
so I'm one happy fella.

got myself another machine.
I love this little netbook though, its been amazing.

Boy, do I know that feeling :-) At least you have access to another
machine that is still online. The real killer is being stranded offline

Hi, thank you so much. It does seem like something has broke it. I
pressed escape when starting the netbook, to see which kernel its
starting, and it is the eee pc kernel, so it looks like something has
been installed over it.
As far as anything else, I am worse off than you, I'm a newby with

When you turn on your netbook, there should be an Acer BIos screen
that flashes up, maybe saying something about Acer. When this has gone
away, try repeatedly pressing esc, until you get a menu. Using the
down key, navigate to the last option that isn't 'Safe Mode' and isn't
