To activate your connection you can do one of a few things:
1) As David says you could use the Network Montior Applet. If you do
not have one right click on the Panel -> Select "Add to Panel" ->
Scroll Down to Find "Network Monitor" -> now highlight and Add.

Just a quick, 'heads up' for people using Breezy on laptops that use
Broadcom chipsets in their wireless card.
On my Dell Inspiron 2200 todays update broke my wireless connection. I
had to remove and reinstall ndiswrapper to get it back up.
