What I'd like to do is use any old Jabber compliant client with the
video handled by the client. I have Googled around this but don't seem
to be able to find any definitive answer.
Anyone know if this is possible?

I actually installed edubuntu and found it's pretty good. Unfortunately I

cess, so I wonder
if anyone can suggest what kind of stuff I should put on this laptop that
might be interesting for the kids to play with.
As you might have guessed I intend to put Ubuntu on it!
Thanks in advance,

TR it can use Google Gears so you can work offline too.
Update: Checked and found that Google has pulled this, albeit
temporarily http://docs.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=176376
Looks like they intend to bring offline access back again though.

Let's hope that the new Government pushes Open Source a little better
than the last one. Still. It all sounds positive!

"Second, we need to follow the example of businesses all over the

way of de
ver and then allows people to
setup multiple virtual hosts quickly from the command line.
I've been thinking of releasing it as a project for people to use if
anyone's interesting.
