The eSpeek package is only the voice, not the entire TTS suite. For the
audio book scenario suggested, I'm not even sure that the quality of the
voice would be sufficient.
The entire TTS package, through the Gnome (only) desktop at the moment is
through the Orca package.

Why is competition good?
Personally, I think co-operation is much better. I though that FOSS was
all about co-operation, and people making software that people actually
need, rather than coming up with a new upgrade (like MS Office 2007)
just because the makers need to make more money.
