I'm having a similar problem in Kubuntu when I insert a blank disc it just shows the disc icon on the desktop and when I click it I get an error. Normally it would say 'what do i do next?' and I'd click open/cancel. Even bought a new 16x Pioneer DVD+/-RW (as my old one was on the way out anyway

apologies. Yes its previously worked fine..with burning stuff and playing stuff. I put a blank CD in the other day and nothings happened. I have restarted the pc but to no avail.! I have tried making my VFD work and to make the remote control which came with my case (mozart thermaltake sx) to work
