Hi Fredy,
Some people do find that the 'live cd' install does have problems with
certain hardware. In these cases it is recommended to use the
'alternate' cd.
For version 6.06 this can be downloaded from:
http://ubuntu-releases.datahop.it/6.06/ubuntu-6.06.1-alternate-i386.iso

Whether or not you can boot from it will depend more on your BIOS than on
Linux.
