I thought YaST was now opensource? I am sure I saw a port to Gentoo at
some point too. I wonder if we could take a look at this and work on

Are the versions of packages in a recent releases of say, Edgy,
different to those included on the original release date? In other
words is there an advantage to downloading a 'current' Edgy install CD
rather than use a copy of one from last year? Would I save on updates
effort?
