I think possibly the VGA stuf needs to be set up .. I had a similar
issue on my Fuji ..
I edited the boot menu to add VGA=791 to the end of the kernel boot
section under Grub .

Following one of the recent updates, the splash screen and boot up
information between the the Grub display and the desktop, has
disappeared. The system boots up OK but the screen stays blank until the
desktop shows up.
How can I recover the startup screen.

I have a box of around 70 Ubuntu CDs from Shipit that I haven't yet
given out. Would it help if I bought these for your stocks to give
out? I am coming on the Thursday.
I also have the recent Linux Format that featured Ubuntu. Thats going
