I have also seen squid hanging for considerable periods for no apparent
reason, but I have never been able to reproduce it reliably. I wonder if
it's the same cause? My system is a VM running 12.04 using squid3
3.1.19-1ubuntu3.12.04.1.

This is actually a bug in the ubuntu server settings. Servers should
not have ipv6 privacy on by default, and postfix should honor what the
admin has set.
I'll revisit this and either close it with a reference to the other bug,
or reassign it, as appropriate.

acl by udev-acl. udev-acl is going away soon, which will remove this
bug. For nwo it is being worked around in qemu by postinst changing the
