Could "squid3 -k reconfigure" get used there instead? (if it's specific to
squid3)

agent fails to be able to obtain catalogs from the puppetmaster, due to

for now I can at least say that this problem does not occur in ubuntu 11.04
(Natty) running "official" kernels.
I think I have now enough evidence about it both for server and deskop 64-bit
kernels in Natty.
My guess is that this would not be an issue also in latest upstream kernel.
