I can confirm the fix. I've also just updated Samba to 2:3.5.4~dfsg-
1ubuntu8.1 from maverick-proposed and it has resolved the issues for me.
I am now able to copy large files to a Windows 2008 share without
getting the "Invalid Argument" error and the files now copy fully
instead of just 64KB.

There are two Debian releases of cheetah that included some packaging
changes that we haven't picked up: 2.4.1-1 and then 2.4.2.1-1. We've
moved past those versions in terms of the upstream, but when we did so,

After discussion in #ubuntu-devel, it was decided that fixing this in an SRU to
lucid would be too dangerous:
"it would suddently start the daemon for people who have it installed, so that
might be an unexpected behaviour change"

My solution to this is to shut down the system rabbitmq instance
altogether, since I only run rabbitmq instances as my user when running
integration tests.
For this I added "chmod -x /usr/sbin/rabbitmq-multi" to /etc/rc.local,
so it gets reset even after new rabbit packages are released.

installed likewise-open and successfully joined a domain and logged in

Indeed, I suspect it was expected to get pulled in by dependencies by
mysql-server-core-5.1 and/or mysql-client-5.1 on libwrap0, but
libmysqld-dev does not (recursively) lead to a dependency on those.
So I think this does need to be added as a Depends for libmysqld-dev.

I hit the same problem after installing and trying to use lxc. It was
previously working properly on the same host machine. Could it be that
lxc changes the mount options on the host's /dev/pts? (I'm not sure
that was precisely the cause though.)
