There seem to be two issues:
* one is about the profile itself, which apparently breaks pam config when
enabled
* the other is about winbind.{postinst,prerm} not calling "pam-auth-update
--package" to enable/disable the profile (which is marked Default:yes, so it
will get enabled by the next pam
Could you provide the information asked at comment 1.
In particular, how do you access the share ? I suspect it's not using
smbclient but using a CIFS mount, could you confirm, and provide the
options used in that mount ?
I tried accessing a share with symlinks with smbclient and it seems to work
Seems unrelated. Check kern.log for denials to be sure.

dhcp3 (3.1.3-2ubuntu3) that should make host_name behave properly.

The files in /etc/libvirt/qemu are designed to be used and managed by
libvirt and not to be edited by hand. The correct and documented way to
make changes to your machine definition is mentioned in comment #8 in
this bug.

configurable timeout, though, on how long to delay shutdown. I suggest

As mentioned, this is fixed in Ubuntu 8.10. Ubuntu 8.04 LTS is no longer
open for development. If you would like for this feature to be added to
8.04 LTS, please submit a patch following
