The version of ubuntu you're using normally comes with a newer kernel
than that and you're probably doing something unsupported. You might bug
your host and ask them to update to a modern version of the kernel.

But, before the last update, the notify-System was working fine and I
had no err
inotify_init man page says: "Inotify was merged into the 2.6.13 Linux
kernel"
I have the same problem on my VPS and I assume that the kernel version of the
VPS is too old (in my case 2.6.9).
