Frankly speaking, I could not find the code that can creates the empty file, but here are the steps to reproduce: 1. Find interface that is not connected (to simplify tests), in my case it is eth0. 2. Run and interrupt the client: sudo dhclient eth0 [sudo] password for rtg: Internet Systems Co
