I've uploaded a backported version of sysstat to my ppa
(https://launchpad.net/~jbernard/+archive/ppa). Give it a try and let me
know if you have any feedback. If all goes well I can make a request to
the backport team and I believe they will make the final decision.

I just verified that sysstat will build in a clean intrepid chroot with
no source changes. Assuming the backport team approves I think this will
be fairly easy. I'll see if I can upload an initial build to my PPA
while once I finish reading through the backport documentation.
