Up to date Jaunty, on amd64:

The following packages are only half configured, probably due to problems
configuring them the first time. The configuration should be retried using
dpkg --configure or the configure menu option in dselect:
mysql-server-5.1 MySQL
Moving this to dhcp-client, as that seems to be the package with the
bug.

problem lies with function refresh_progress_meter in progressmeter.c,
which indeed cuts strings by characters.

I left some files for copying today using scp (from the openssh-client
package). I happened to look at the output and noticed some “bad character”
symbols on the terminal, as pasted below. (These were
