Same here on Lubuntu 14.04 : on a new install chkrootkit reports Warning:
/sbin/init INFECTED but then there's no evidence of this with repeated passes
of unhide and rkhunter.
Apparently,also running chkrootkit -x and chkrootkit -x does not report the
infection,as far as I can see.

Greetings!
cloud-init v0.7.5 (trusty) is placing a comment in the /etc/timezone
file, when that file isn't intended to contain a comment. This is
confusing openjdk (and perhaps other programs?), which is unable to
determine the correct timezone.
Sample /etc/timezone from v0.
Note that "Allow" and "Deny" have been deprecated in Apache 2.4 for a
simpler authentication and authorization framework:

I just ran into thins on Trusty.
Using --addpkg linux-image-generic caused the vm to build, but it would
never get to a usable state. It sould sit at Starting up... in virt-
manager console.
This is on a vmhost upgraded from precise to trusty.

To further clarify, this isn't a juju bug. lxc should be smart enough to
delete dependent subvolumes before it deletes the rootfs subvolume. I
took a stab at this over the weekend, but ran out of time.
