I uninstalled, reinstalled mysql. I had to remove residue from the old
install /etc/mysql and others. I re-installed, moved the directory,
configured my.cnf before ever running mysql and it works fine now.

Caps lock state of VM (Windows XP using KVM) gets reve
freshclam does handle some signals with specific actions, but just
terminates in case of SIGINT or SIGTERM. Therefore the unlink call is
not reached. This is either and upstream bug or a design decision by

Note that both clamav-daemon and freshclam are supposed to do the
removal of the pid file themselves, and indeed also freshclam does have
an unlink call. I'm not sure whether we are killing it in the wrong way
or running into some upstream bug. I'll try to investigate.

Okay, let me see if i can touch on all of your points here.
I do not have IFACE=eth0 in the "start on' clause of /etc/init/smb.conf
However, i do have the following line in /etc/samba/smb.conf, and it does not
'just work' as you indicate it should, unfortunately. :(
