I think this bug was corrected by the fix for bug #677764 . If that's
the case, the package from -proposed is working (see comment #20 from
that bugreport).

https://bugs.
Package from -proposed tested and installs correctly on Lucid, see
below:
=== BEFORE (does not install when ftpfoo user present):
root@utest-lls32:~# useradd ftpfoo
root@utest-lls32:~# apt-get install vsftpd
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information...
Package from -proposed tested and working as expected on Lucid:
=== BEFORE:
root@utest-lls32:~# apt-cache policy vsftpd
vsftpd:
Installed: 2.2.2-3ubuntu6.1
Candidate: 2.2.2-3ubuntu6.1
root@utest-lls32:~# grep listen= /etc/vsftpd.conf
#listen=YES
root@utest-lls32:~# start vsftpd
vsftpd start
Checked the package from -proposed and the typo is corrected in
/etc/init/vsftpd.conf (emply -> empty). The packages upgrades ok, and
/var/run/vsftpd/empty gets created at startup.
Looks like the fix is ok in Lucid.

The source code in the official samba git (source/lib/util.c) seems to
use HOST_NAME_MAX and I found an inconsistency in the code base:

Hi there,
yes, I can confirm that I got the same problem without hugetlbfs.
Anyway, is there any reason why Ubuntu kernel team didn't set
Transparent huge pages to yes in the kernel configuration?
I did and dtill doing some test, I will post the results.

Serge and Leo,
We are using hardware RAID, no multipath.
We did not preserve any of host or VM syslog or bootlog entries from

We also have the postgres logs and they show a restart 2011-04-05

Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
