My solution now for this problem is using a script that gets called by
molly-guard, as testing other script-stuff was really annoying! As Molly-Guard
installs it self as shutdown-command and executes each script inside
/etc/molly-gua

Alright, looks good, marking the Ubuntu bug as fix released too.
I believe the reason for the long pause was that an archive admin had to
move some of rrdtool's dependencies into main, which has happened now.

What does having different paths per SAPI buy you? The reason we did it
this way in the first place (setting gc to 0, strict/sticky permissions,
and a cronjob) was so that users all running as the same user (say, all
www-data) couldn't sniff each other's session.

Scott, I've experienced problems with SIGKILL's corrupting mysql
databases before, so the workaround given might be a little misleading.
MySQL can actually be stuck waiting on a single query to finish before
it can shut down, and some queries might take *hours*.
