Yeah, those files might have helped :) Just not sure if the archive was

Don't think this is a generic problem. I installed squid on a fresh
8.10, did a do-release-upgrade to Jaunty, and Squid was still working.
Of course, that was with only the default configuration.

Your machine resolves pc-chiara as 195.210.87.131 so it's quite normal
that samba cannot connect to it. You probably can't ping it either. This
is not a samba bug, more an issue in configuration of your name
resolution... You should be able to work around the issue by adding pc-
chiara in your /etc
Closing this bug as a configuration issue: you shouldn't have had the
"auto eth0" line in /etc/network/interfaces if those are handled by NM.

Thanks for the suggestion. It worked. My Windows shares become available
immediately after my wireless connections start.

For me it looks like this is resolved in 9.04. Pulling and/or plugging
the ethernet cable is almost instantly (within 2 seconds) detected by
