I've got this problem on Ubuntu 9.04 RC (Mythbuntu). Dang strange
database behavior. It seems mysql sometimes boots okay but sometimes it
boots and I can't connect to it.

I thought I'd list what I discovered when originally looking at this
bug. Much of this is mythtv specific. I'm currently of the opinion
that there are issues in both mythtv and mysql, with the mythtv strange
behaviour tickling a mysql issue.

I think that it's a ratter important issue as, AFAIK, slapd.conf was the
default in Hardy.
Anyway, I migrated my configuration to slapd.d using slaptest. I'm using

But upgrading still fails :

As you've mentioned you're using slapd.conf instead of the dynamic

that the upgrade script should fail with a more explicit error - however
slapd.conf isn't supported anymore.

Hi Will,
Thanks, you're right. Restarting mythtv-backend after reboot (sudo

I believe that this problem has been fixed in a corresponding debian

could have been applied to ubuntu too - and also in Hardy (LTS) where I
am encountering this issue. It makes the python bindings unusable.

What version of php5-imagick has just got installed?
Looks like the latest updates to the php5 packages broke it again. The
