So you basically complain that you have to modify gc settings when you
are already modifying some other settings in non-standard way? Debian
way is properly documented, and you cannot expect everything to be
magickally working out of the box. Default install is ok, non-default
install has to be mod

I can confirm this. Setting SLAPD_PIDFILE does in effect nullify the
result of any value set to SLAPD_CONF.
The same goes for the Jaunty version (2.4.11-0ubuntu7).

One thing I only just figured out: if you are using the umountcifs script
linked above, you also need to set the network as a system setting, otherwise
it's pulled down when you exit KDE/Gnome and still leaves the umount hanging
during shutdown/reboot.

And back to apparmor.. The profile does need some changes, but no
modifications to openssh AIUI. Here's what I had to add:

Could you look into /var/log/daemon.log? There should be more
