I'd really like to see something done about this. Throwing perfectly
acceptable and highly sought after techniques for optimization is not a
good way to promote the server edition of Ubuntu.
If I had to deploy tomorrow, I'd be stuck compiling my entire web server
stack!
Holy cow - look how long
This looks like it's still a problem on hardy to me. The following was
gathered from an up-to-date ubuntu 8.04 installation with a user's home
directory mounted via CIFS
Even worse than just sqlite3, since firefox 3 uses sqlite internally, it
looks like it's making firefox fail to function at all

FWIW, I have also reproduced this problem in Gutsy as well, which uses
openssl-0.9.8e-5ubuntu3.
However, Dapper-Feisty do not exhibit this problem. Feisty uses
openssl-0.9.8c-4ubuntu0.2.
It seems that the regression was introduced sometime between
openssl-0.9.8c and 0.9.8e.

My SMB server is an ASUS WL-500gP router with OpenWrt Linux 2.4 on it. I
cannot even copy from the shell by using smbfs (same error access

I don't understand why it's set to incomplete all the time. People are
requesting SERVER logs all the time, while a CLIENT log is attached. The
bug clearly is in the CLIENT, not in the server, as the servers are
always non-Ubuntu, unchanged systems of all kinds. If ever requesting a

The only way to reboot the machine safely is to use the Magic SysRq
