The dialog in itself is expected. The bug I was reporting is that it
looks different to the dialogs of other packages dealing with the same
problem. It would feel smoother if they all looked the same.

I'm curious... Would it be possible for you to try and scp a file
from your Linux Server to your Vista client? You can use something
like Putty's pscp from:
http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/pscp.exe
See what sort of throughput you get on a secure copy.

is e1000.
I just tested with an another computer instead of the server.
This computer is running Vista and the result almost is the same.
laptop -> vista computer <3,7 MB/s
laptop <- vista computer <~6,7 MB/s

Poor perfor
As pointed out on the mysql bug and in the help message, the command is
only available when debugging support is enable at build time. mysql is
not built with debugging in Ubuntu.
However the error message could be improved as suggested in mysql bug.
Thus marking wishlist.

At the moment our company authenticates users with
samba/winbind/kerberos. They simply enter their usernames without any
domain-part.
I would appreciate if likewise-open can offer the same functionality.

Similar for me. But login with cached credentials is still possible.
Restarting the service with "sudo invoke-rc.d likewise-open restart"
with network cable plugged in helps here.

Ok I figured it out.
I installed the wrong mysql package.
This is the right process:
apt-get install build-essential
apt-get source bind9
apt-get build-dep bind9
apt-get libmysqlclient15-dev, needed for mysql headers and libraries for the
dlz-mysql driver.
cd bind9-9.4.1-P1
export DEB_BUILD_OPTION
