X11 apps I use everyday - gimp, thunderbird, Zim, libreoffice, etc. Are
there still plans for having X11 support - and consequently apps that
currently depend upon it - running under app armor restrictions? Would

Yes, running legacy x apps to some degree is something we're going to
be working on. Granted we need to get our legs underneath us for the
window management work you're seeing from Michael now. Hopefully in
the early part of next year we'll spend some effort on plumbing
rootless X into unity8/qtmir

Awesome, I'm in. Already loving the workflow I've gained by running apps
on my tablet/phone and 14.10 desktop using qmlscene. Looking forward to
being an early tester for the new convergence work.
