Hi All,
The current system uses the open source library pocketsphinx (
http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/) - I believe this is the current "best"
open source voice recognition tool.
Unfortunately this library is not able to perform dictation with an
acceptable level of accuracy. I don't know of an
Non-dev comment.
I very very rarely ever use voice recognition, and never use dictation. I only
use it on rare occasion when I can't remember how to spell a word, and my best
guess has spell check all confused. Plus with all the NSA and other privacy
issues coming up, I'm working harder than ev
Just wondering what are the plans for video chat?
There seems to be a lot of emphasis of this feature in the "Ubuntu Tablet
video":

Many are being led to think that this is a core feature or that's working
already but I suppose it was j

That's exactly what he said

a standalone GPS has no network connection, period. Smartphone GPS apps use
the connection to help you avoid traffic and the likes. Data itself is not
inherently evil, and can be very useful. Printing directions leaves them
with as much information as using a smartphone GPS. using a standalone

Hi,
Maybe it's only me missing it but; phones with touch are quite hard to use
if you not are able to look at the screen or the screen is harmed in any
way. In an emergency situation both may be the case (broken glasses, you
have to call from your pocket etc.)
Therefore I think there should be so
how would you click the SOS signal? and how would the power button
distinguish between a normal click and an emergency click? it is important
to be able to contact emergency response teams, but not accidentally doing
it is even more important, otherwise it will be a "boy who cries wolf"
situation.
Hello,
I like the idea of being able to make a emergency call, but being a
paranoid person that always seems to accidently set these things off, I
would like to point out a few downsides of it. The one problem I see with
this is that the emergency combo would likely be too hard to remember and
act
About the security unlock of screen,
I could see in tablet images some months ago that there will be a password
unlock in the future, for give opportunity to an user define a password
unlock to the screen.
At phone images I couldn't see that opportunity.
About user experience, how it will works i
I really like the idea of emergency call... but since Ubuntu doesn't use
hardware buttons it would be very trivial to trigger it.
What do we have ? Power button , Vol UP and DOWN.
Pressing all at the same time is not friendly when in an emergency case.
Think of the case you don't want no one to no

Hello,
The toolkit's theming infrastructure is being simplified greatly
resulting in increased reliability and performance.
The ItemStyle attached property has been removed and widgets now have a
'style' property equivalent to what ItemStyle.delegate was providing.
Also the support for style
Does anyone know if Ubuntu touch will support old-world style theming? Back
in the day, I remember Gnome 2 being extremely themeable. Ubuntu touch will
be using standardized controls all drawn via Qt. It seems like system-wide
user theme support would be fairly straightforward to support, with app
I like that SOS press/signal idea. But I don't think this should be default
and that the Ubuntu team should develop it, but a third party app by a
third party dev.
And for those who doesn't know: SOS is Morse code: _ _ _ . . . _ _ _ (three
long, three short, three long)

Ironically, SOS is actually . . . _ _ _ . . .
So much for discoverability. I do like the idea though, even if I think
it's not a good default
Thank you Zisu :-) Printing directions out does not give the exact times
and coordinates of your every move. With devices that come with 32GB of
storage now, not having on device maps is unacceptable.
With what has been going with Assange, Manning, and now Snowden, I very
much prefer not to assume
But, I think you're both missing my point. The fact that you have a cell
phone means that your every move *is able to be tracked*. The cell towers
can triangulate your every move as long as you are connected to the cell
network, if the cell company wants to do so or is told to do so. If you

Thanks to 100 scopes project, voice searches / recognition should become the
