Nothing ever seems to.have happened with this , i set up a google account
just for facebook notifications which to be honest works spot on :) add the
google accout to facebook and then add it to accounts in phone! Not ideal
but it works until it is working !!

Hi everyone,
On Android we can receive notifications for facebook without the app. Just
need the browser/chrome
On ubuntu this doesn't work... But the twitter webapp can send
notifications for mentions and private messages. Could we expect better
days for notifications for facebook, at least
