Unfortunately that was one of the problems, friends is architected as a
system daemon and it isn't possible to ship it as a click app.
It wasn't desirable to leave it on the phone as-is because it was bad for
battery life and was quite insecure as well.

Mind defining the boot problems? I know the Nexus 5 technically isn't
supported, but since the Mir 0.5 landing I haven't been able to use
Ubuntu Touch (any update to => 137). Just gets stuck on the Google
screen and I have to completely remove UT and re-install with an older
build.
