Kevin answered your question about the errors above. Try running
sudo apt-get install ttf-linux-libertine
and see if it's installed. If not, then it will be, and you should be
able to make the manual. Plus, for you (or me for that matter), it

Awesome. Thanks. I'm going to do another VM installation this weekend, so
I'll use this script..if I, too, experience no issues, I'll post it to the
ubuntu-manual wiki as an option for users. Ideally, it would be good for
this to be under version control (if not already).

Can't exactly assure if it got posted anywhere. I got it from
http://crosswire.org/~jmarsden/ubuntu-manual/
IMHO it did made the installation much easier but can't say nothing about
its reliability though. In all cases it worked perfectly for me.

Sorry for asking this (again, if already asked)...did Johnathan's script
get posted anywhere? In LaunchPad? On a wiki? If the modifications made by
Jonathan make the installation of TexLive easier and more reliable, I want
to be sure the script is readily available to current and future authors

It's solved guys. I purged texlive and used Jonathan Marsden's script to
install it. Everything is running smooth now.
Later on I'll push the Advanced Topic chapter to the branch.
