Mehmet, Just to let you know, I ma currently an author for the Ubuntu team and this is now my third contribution, I was enquiring about the opportunities of *coordinator* as I understand that there are no coordinators at present. Whoops! Sorry about that. I didn't notice you asked about bei

Mehmet, To be an author, you basically have to have some experience with Ubuntu (depending on the section/chapter you choose), a machine with the Ubuntu 14.04 beta installed, and have some experience with LaTeX (but if you don't, we will be sure to find someone who will help you). As for becom

Hello everyone! As some may know, the authoring phase has ended (March 27th was the last day) and we are now in the editing phase. The editing phase will take place from March 27th to April 7th. If you are an editor, your job is to: - Edit and proof read the content contained in your section/c

We've called for authors, and we got 5-7 new authors. Only one of them, Mike, finished his work, or worked. So the others either they lost their interest on the project on the way or found some difficulties that couldn't surpass (i haven't enough feedback so i can't tell for sure). We'll have to l

Will do. I might also suggest (after Quantal is released) putting another call out for new authors. That's how I got involved last year as an editor and author-if-necessary. It may be my perception only, but it seems we have more editors than authors. Arguably, authoring is more the driving force

I agree with you. Some chapters like Ubuntu Desktop that are affected most in every release need a dedicated author indeed. Other sections/chapters that are almost untouched like "reading mails" need an author/editor. Now on our subject. Check the chapter and if you think you'll need someone to he

Ideally, it would be best to have more than one dedicated author/editor assigned to this chapter, since it is a huge and very important one. That is also why we have split this chapter into smaller parts. Hannie Op 20-09-12 06:57, Jim Connett schreef: Thank you, John, for your reply and your en

Thank you, John, for your reply and your encouragement. Yea...sometimes, for me, setting "short-term goals" help me to achieve ...well...just GOALS. For the last two releases, I've been the adjunct author for the Desktop chapter. If any "reauthoring" needs done for 12.10, I may not have time to d

Hey Jim, i'm glad that you set short-term goals :). Have in mind that the Desktop chapter hasn't been updated at all from authors -they haven't work on it-. So you'll have to double check for changes or even write some new content *if you find the need*. Thank you for your time ! --John 2012/9/

My goal is to both start AND finish my edits this weekend. Those are the plans anyway...we'll see how far I get...depends on how much has changed in the Desktop chapter between 12.04 and 12.10. I'll update the spreadsheet on Sunday evening Pacific Daylight Time with the results of my efforts. On
