Sorry for not replying. I wanted to see what others thought first.
I also think that LTS only is the best way forward. Then having a second
edition to fix issues.
It least that way the project stays alive.

I think it a good idea to explain in our manual the difference between
these two words.
We could add these words to our glossary and index and give an
explanation with examples in section "Security concepts > Password".
