You can install xmms from the Ubuntu cd itself. some times you may need mp3 pluh-in which can be downloaded from xmms.org. I installed xmms from Ubuntu dvd got along with the "Linux for You" magazine Sept issue which worked without any plugin

Open your terminal/xterm/console and type as follows:
$sudo apt-get
I had a .sh script to check the splash screen support of the GRUB please tell me how to run this script to get the result (Script is checksplah.sh)
