Big scanner regression

2008-04-08 Thread Mackenzie Morgan
Somehow between Gutsy and Hardy (I'm guessing with the new CUPS GUI), a regression was introduced where no HP scanners work with Hardy. These were probably the easiest scanners to get going before, and because they're attached to the very-compatible HP printers, I'm sure a *lot* of people have the

Yes, I'm having issues as well. I just now applied the updates and for starters transparency is not working well. Applets that have transparency show thin white borders. I'm still looking into what else is not working properly, but there are definately issues. Marc On Tue, 2008-04-08 at 10:39 -0

I'm in the middle of downloading them right now. Should I stop? What video driver are you using? On Tue, 2008-04-08 at 10:39 -0700, David Meyer wrote: > From .xsession-errors on any of my hosts: > > /usr/bin/compiz.real (core) - Warn: Unable to parse XML metadata from file > "ccp.xml" >

View or Run dialog not showing up after today's Hardy updates

2008-04-08 Thread Evan
Executable Text files (like .sh and .js) used to make a dialog show up "Do you want to run or edit this file?". After today's Hardy updates, this dialog doesn't show up. I double-click on any of these, and nothing happens. Open-with in the context menu still works though. Changing the default appl

Fedora 9 Beta does sound. Ubuntu Hardy does not?

2008-04-08 Thread Scott (angrykeyboarder)
Both are betas and both use PulseAudio. Why is it that it works out of the box in Fedora but not in Ubuntu? All things being equal, I *much* prefer Ubuntu but not having sound doesn't make things equal. This is driving me mad. I just did (yet another) fresh install of Hardy yesterday with the

Hi! Saw your upload of the new ia32-libs! Wouldn't adding a /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so be a much better solution than having to use padsp every time? Then alsa would simply work in 32-bit apps. As suggested in bug #182731 which is a dupe of #210572, and #182731 is IMHO the b
