Can a fairly long-term non-geeky Ubuntu user, such as myself, install the
OS on a tablet? I'm not great at rtfm but i'm not completely useless on
the command-line and i have a spare device that i can relax and take my
time figuring it out.

user, not so much. I am talking about a phone for the average
computer-illierate who doesn't know any more about computer than swipe &
tap. We really need something out-of-the-box.
