We discussed this on IRC and after going through bug 577595 [1], it
seems optimal to add the dependency as a Suggests. I've also asked the
upstream Kile developer if he can drop the utf8x package from the
templates.

I'm looking into this, and as of right now I agree with you, kile
should pull in texlive-latex-extra . I'm looking into this and will

Hi,
I would like suggest that Kile recommends the 'texlive-latex-extra'
package. This package is not automatically installed when Kile is
installed which causes a bug when starting with the 'article'
template (see [1] and [2]):
/usr/share/texmf-texlive/t
