Hi Scott, funny enough, I was looking on the 13_smoother_fading patch today because it didn't work well on my machine (xinerama setup) but it didn't have anything to do with the bug you are referencing. I've uploaded a revised patch on launchpad: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/
